![]() ![]() If you spend too many years using them they may delay your progress into Intermediate material. ![]() Personally, I think duolingo or lingodeer are only worth it if you plan to get through the app material within 1 year, since they only cover beginner materials that'd be in 2 school semesters. Please feel free to ignore my opinion on this cause in the end you should always do what you like best and works for you. You will have to pay for the second half of the Lingodeer course. (Also you can shadow the audio of Genki dialogues where you record yourself trying to pronounce the dialogue like the audio clip for speaking practice, and practice writing short journals using the grammar/topics you learn in a genki chapter, which could cover the speaking/writing skills Lingodeer has no exercises to practice).įrom what I could tell, Lingodeer is very similar to Duolingo content wise in that both apps only cover N5-N4 beginner material, but lingodeer is better in that it provides more grammar explanations and better explanations in general in its japanese course. ![]() ![]() Genki 1 and 2 only cover about 2000 words so in theory Lingodeer will have more words, but Genki will have more in depth grammar explanations when you need it and Genki has a lot of exercises for studying that are really useful if you do all of them. Genki 1 and 2 textbooks also cover N5 and N4 grammar so they would be a good companion textbook. Lingodeer last time I checked covered N5 and N4 material (so beginner material). I am not sure it actually has 4000 words. Duolingo has 3200 words in its japanese course, lingodeer says it has 3000 sentence patterns and 4000 words. Last time I used lingodeer, it covered about as many words as Duolingo. ![]()
